In accordance with the museum′s mission, the collections′ work centres on German film and cinema history. Special attention is paid to the development of the Babelsberg studios since 1912, its artists and films. Here, the focus lies on the film and cinema history of the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR.
Items illustrating film art in Eastern Europe and children′s films complement the stock. The history of German film technology constitutes a special subject of the collections.
