25.1.2012 to 03.03.2013
People on the street addressed him as “Your Majesty”. Between 1920 and 1941, he played Frederick the Great in 15 films – and he enjoyed it. However, the celluloid monuments to the Prussian king and commander with all their sabre rattling and somewhat questionable anecdotes tend to obstruct the view on its leading actor: Otto Gebühr, a humorous and warm-hearted man. The exhibition delivers new insights into his theatre and film career, examining artificially created historical images and their effects.
