22 October 2005 - 6 December 2005
The exhibition documented Roland Gräf′s work as a cameraman and director. With film and production stills, location sketches, scripts, written records from the director′s archive and further exhibits from the collections of the museum, the show depicted the artist′s consistent realism. The pictures from the forbidden film "Jahrgang 45" (1965/1990), Jürgen Böttcher′s only feature film, illustrate the aesthetic break with both Ufa and DEFA traditions like no other film of that time. Later films, such as "Mein lieber Robinson" (1971), "Bankett für Achilles" (1975), "Die Flucht" (1977) – Armin Mueller-Stahl′s last GDR feature film –, "Märkische Forschungen" (1982) or "Fallada – Letztes Kapitel" (1988) give evidence of his uncompromising dedication to reality and his orientation towards the protagonists of European realistic cinema.
