Photographer Günter Linke predominantly worked for the magazine "Filmspiegel" from 1968 to 1991. The main focus of his work was and, up to the present day, is to photograph actors. Born in Lodz in 1943 and raised in Leipzig, he first learned the trade of a bookseller after his Abitur. After he had moved to Berlin, he became a trainee for the "Neue Zeit", the press organ of the CDU, and was promoted to editorial journalist. After 21 August 1968, he worked at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig.
Günter Linke entrusted his archive to Filmmuseum Potsdam several years ago. A first exhibition that mainly consisted of actor portraits from the "Filmspiegel" years was followed by a second one with the title "Eyes as the Mirror of the Soul".
Here, a new generation of established film and TV artists presented itself.
